MARTYN S. COHEN I BLUE BODY

Cohen is a fine art photographer living and working in London
who sells to private collectors around the world. His images displayed
on his website and in bars, cafe's, and private galleries. He prefers not
to describe his work but to let the images speak for themselves, and
states that it is up to the viewer to draw his or her own conclusion as
to their meaning.

This image taken from his Blue series features isolated, ethereal
male and female nudes. The bodies are barely discernible in the shifting
pink backgrounds, imbuing the pictures with an aura of heavenly
transcendence that is in stark contrast with his Red series. In the latter
sequence, the bodies are formed out of hot oranges and reds that
conjure up feelings of mortal passion punished with biblical severity.
In spite of the heavenly feelings suggested by this image, a closer
examination revels that the man is lifting his limbs in self-defence,
the tautness of his feet possibly indicate of the fear of the unknown
he is falling into. These complex images are achieved with extensive
darkroom manipulation, all done by the photographer himself.
